Welder

About the Role The Welder will assemble and weld metal components using GMAW and related techniques, interpret drawings, and follow Welding Procedure Specifications to ensure high-quality welds and on-time delivery. What You'll Do

• Assemble and weld metal components, including carbon steel and stainless steel, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
• Prepare joints before fit-up and welding, using grinders, sanders, die grinders, and approved solvents to remove contaminants.
• Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) for assigned workstations, verifying welding parameters, wire size and type, and shielding gas.
• Demonstrate proficiency in plasma arc or air carbon arc gouging for back-gouging welded roots before full penetration.
• Position and clamp workpieces accurately, tack components based on thickness and joint type, and follow detailed sequence procedures.
• Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions as required.
• Use inspection tools (tape measures, calipers) to confirm fit-up, alignment, and finished weld sizes.
• Clean and inspect completed welds for correct size and adherence to acceptance criteria.
• Repair improperly welded components or defective welds per repair procedures.
• Communicate assembly issues to management and engineering to support continuous improvement.
• Participate in Process Improvement activities to enhance productivity and quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area; ensure safe, efficient workspace.
• Maintain and upkeep PPE; ensure PPE is in good condition. What We're Looking For
• Proficiency in various welding techniques with a strong focus on GMAW.
• Ability to interpret assembly drawings and follow work instruction sequences, WPS, and verify welding parameters and shielding gas.
• Comfortable with back-gouging, welding in multiple positions, and using measurement tools.
• Attention to detail, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and in teams.
• Good communication skills and willingness to participate in process improvement.
