Job title: Weekend DevOps Engineer
About the Role Sporty Group is seeking a Weekend DevOps Engineer to join a team of DevOps and DBA professionals. The role covers Saturday, Sunday and Monday (5 days with flexible days off) and involves improving infrastructure across six deployed countries, with potential expansion to new countries in the future. You will monitor, automate, and optimize our cloud operations, implement modern techniques and mentor teammates.
What You'll Do
- Work with a team of DevOps and DBA professionals; provide weekend coverage (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) with flexible days off
- Improve infrastructure and processes across the six countries we’re deployed in and enable deployments to new countries
- Holistically improve DevOps infrastructure: reduce costs, streamline environment provisioning, lower response times, and adopt latest techniques
- Monitor and maintain cloud infrastructure via autoscaling, automated alerts, OpsWorks, Grafana dashboards
- Take ownership of cloud operation activities and liaise with external security agencies for annual audits; perform internal security sweeps
- Aid in reconfiguring existing architecture to support rapid deployments to new countries
- Mentor less experienced team members
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of DevOps experience; based in Europe, Asia, or LatAM
- Experience independently leading the planning and deployment of a project
- Proficient with cloud platforms, especially AWS; solid knowledge of utilizing cloud resources to meet demand
- Strong understanding of modern Microservices and Service Mesh concepts
- Experience managing Kubernetes, including CI/CD with Kubernetes
- Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP stack, HTTP)
- Strong understanding of caching (CDN, HTTP cache, Redis / Memcached)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills (Linux OS, OS parameter optimisation); JVM optimisation would be highly advantageous
- Tech stack: Java / Spring Boot, TypeScript / VueJS
- Cloud libraries: Netflix Eureka, Netflix Ribbon, Feign, Netflix Zuul
- Database: MySQL, Oracle, Mybatis, Druid
- Cache: Redisson, ElastiCache, Redis
- MQ: Apache RocketMQ
- Servers/Load Balancing/Virtualization: Nginx, Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher
- Computing & Storage: AWS EC2, VPC, AWS Lambda, EBS, S3
- Maintenance: AWS OpsWorks, Salt, Chef
- CI/CD: Drone, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins
- Monitoring/Logging: Grafana, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch; ELK, Rsyslog, Log4j2
- CDN: Cloudflare
