About this role
Wednesday afternoon lite paced Exercise Group - Support Active Ageing
Enjoy helping people come together and take part in meaningful activities?
We’re looking for a warm, friendly and reliable volunteer to support our Wednesday afternoon Active Living Group. The group gives residents an opportunity to come together, stay engaged and enjoy activities in a friendly and social environment.
As a volunteer, you could:
- Help carers escort residents to the exercise location for a 3.15pm start every Wednesday afternoon
- Offer friendly conversation and reassurance along the way
- Make residents feel welcomed, included and comfortable
While this would suit a physiotherapist, OT or other allied health student, you don’t need any special experience. We’re looking for someone who is patient, dependable, encouraging and genuinely enjoys spending time with older people.
Your role within the group can be shaped around what feels comfortable and appropriate for you, with plenty of guidance from our professional team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who run the exercise program at each session.
If you’d enjoy being part of a welcoming group and helping older people stay connected, involved and engaged, we’d love to hear from you.
Please note: Volunteer interviews and Orientation must take place on a weekday during business hours.
Your impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
