Web Server Administrator

GDIT is seeking a Web Server Administrator to manage web server infrastructure and ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of web services. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining web servers, troubleshooting server issues, implementing security measures, and being available for on-call support to ensure continuous operation.

Responsibilities

• Installation and Configuration: Install and configure web server software (e.g., Apache, Nginx, IIS) and related components.

• Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly update and patch web servers to maintain security and optimal performance.

• Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor server performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks to meet SLAs.

• Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect web servers from threats and vulnerabilities.

• Backup and Recovery: Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability in case of server failure.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.

• Collaboration: Work closely with development and IT teams to support web application deployments and ensure smooth operation.

• User Support: Provide support to users and developers for web server-related issues and inquiries.

• Ticket-Based Support: Manage and resolve support tickets in a timely and efficient manner to ensure user satisfaction.

• Customer Service: Communicate effectively with users and stakeholders, addressing concerns and providing solutions.

• Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline server management tasks.

• Compliance: Ensure web server operations comply with organizational policies and industry standards, including DISA guidelines.

• On-Call Work: Be available for on-call support outside regular business hours to address urgent issues and ensure continuous operation of web services.

• What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Education: Technical training, certifications, or degree.

• Experience: 3+ years of related experience.

• Security clearance: TS/SCI with Polygraph; US citizenship required.

• Certification: Level II 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent).

• Role requirements: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).

• Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of network protocols, DNS, SSL/TLS, and web security practices; familiarity with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).

• Monitoring and tooling: Experience with monitoring tools and performance tuning.

• Configuration management: Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
