Job Description

As a Water Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the processes involved in water treatment and purification. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the delivery of high-quality water through the operation of treatment facilities, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor water treatment machinery and equipment to ensure effective operation.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of treatment facilities to identify and resolve any issues.
  • Perform water quality tests to evaluate chemical composition and adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment processes and water quality data for regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize treatment process efficiency and implement improvements.
  • Respond to emergencies and operational problems, taking appropriate action to minimize impact.
  • Communicate with supervisors and relevant authorities regarding facility operations and maintenance needs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety protocols within the water treatment facility.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in water treatment or a related field, with a strong understanding of water quality and treatment processes.

  • Proven track record of operating and maintaining treatment plant equipment and systems.

  • Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations related to water treatment.

  • Ability to analyze water quality data and implement corrective actions as necessary.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a clean driving record.

  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for monitoring and reporting purposes.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as a water treatment operator or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Experience with automated control systems and SCADA technology.

  • Familiarity with laboratory testing procedures and equipment for water quality analysis.

  • Additional certifications in safety or environmental management are an advantage.
