Job title: Washcoat Technician
About the Role The Washcoat Technician will prepare intermediate slurries and master batches of washcoat solutions for the production line, operate batching and lab equipment, and report concerns to the Batching Supervisor or Washcoat Engineer.
What You'll Do
- Comply with JM Health and Safety policies and regulatory requirements for hazardous waste.
- Assist in equipment setup to initiate or adjust washcoat slurries or final batches.
- Handle, store, and dispense chemicals for washcoat slurries and final batches.
- Operate AGV for tank movement through blending stations.
- Ensure batches follow the WCE-approved recipe and complete batching records.
- Operate and maintain lab test equipment (pH meter, thermometer, viscometer, particle size) and keep the lab orderly.
- Move materials in/out of the batching tower using elevators or forklifts.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming blends; train new hires; monitor process controls; manage rinse water or heels disposal per policy.
- Participate in housekeeping and 5S activities.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years manufacturing experience desirable.
- Knowledge of chemical handling procedures desirable.
- Proficient in MS Office and PC skills desirable.
- Open to night shift.
Nice to Have
- Experience with washcoat processes and lab/test equipment.
- Familiarity with AGV operation and batching tower equipment (elevator, forklift).
- Ability to train new hires and contribute to 5S and safety initiatives.
