Warehouse Officer

The Warehouse Officer is responsible for executing daily warehouse records and commodity-handling activities at Kano. The role receives and verifies cargo documentation, records receipts, dispatches and transfers, monitors stacking and storage conditions, assists with loading and offloading, maintains warehouse registers and lot identification, supports stock counts and reconciliation, and reports shortages, damages or irregularities, in support of the Warehouse Supervisor and safe, accurate commodity handling at the Kano hub.

Job Details

  1. Cargo Documentation Receipt and Verification Receive and verify cargo documentation (e.g., waybills, delivery notes, weighbridge tickets) against physical deliveries prior to acceptance into the warehouse.

Flag documentation discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor before goods are accepted.

  1. Receipts, Dispatches and Transfers Recording Record receipts, dispatches and internal transfers of commodity accurately and promptly in warehouse records.

Ensure recorded quantities match physical counts and supporting documentation.

  1. Stacking and Storage Condition Monitoring Monitor stacking arrangements and storage conditions to ensure commodity is stored safely and in line with approved standards.

Report stacking or storage condition issues, such as overstacking, poor ventilation or pest signs, to the Warehouse Supervisor.

  1. Loading and Offloading Assistance Assist with the loading and offloading of commodity, ensuring safe handling practices are followed.

Support supervision of loading gangs/labour to ensure accurate quantities and minimal product damage during handling.

  1. Warehouse Registers and Lot Identification Maintain warehouse registers, stack cards and lot identification labels, ensuring all commodity is properly identified and traceable.

Keep registers up to date and available for inspection or audit.

  1. Stock Count and Reconciliation Support Support periodic physical stock counts, assisting with counting, recording and reconciliation of physical stock against warehouse records.

Assist in investigating and resolving identified stock variances.

  1. Shortage, Damage and Irregularity Reporting Identify and promptly report shortages, damages or irregularities observed in warehouse stock or operations to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Assist with documenting reported issues for follow-up and resolution.

Requirements

  • HND/B.Sc. in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. Basic training in warehousing/store-keeping is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with manual or basic digital stock record-keeping is desirable.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in warehouse/store operations, preferably within the agro-commodity or food processing sector.
