Job Summary

  • The Waiter is responsible for providing professional, friendly, and efficient food and beverage service to guests.
  • The role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the dining area, responding to guest requests, and ensuring a positive dining experience in accordance with the property's service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests promptly in a warm and professional manner.

  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus where applicable.

  • Explain menu items, daily specials, promotions, and available beverages accurately.

  • Take food and beverage orders carefully and enter them correctly into the Point-of-Sale (POS) system or appropriate ordering system.

  • Confirm special requests, dietary requirements, allergies, and food preferences with guests and communicate them clearly to the kitchen.

  • Serve food and beverages according to established service standards and proper sequence of service.

  • Ensure orders are presented correctly, attractively, and at the appropriate temperature.

  • Check on guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction and respond promptly to additional requests.

  • Clear used plates, glasses, and cutlery efficiently and discreetly.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables throughout service.

  • Reset tables promptly after guests leave.

  • Provide accurate information regarding menu ingredients and preparation when requested.

  • Handle guest complaints and concerns courteously and refer issues to the Restaurant Supervisor or Manager when necessary.

  • Process guest bills accurately and handle cash, credit cards, or other approved payment methods in accordance with company procedures.

  • Ensure all bills are properly posted, settled, and accounted for.

  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of food and beverage products, prices, promotions, and service procedures.

  • Replenish condiments, napkins, cutlery, glassware, and other service items as required.

  • Maintain cleanliness of service stations, side stations, dining areas, and assigned equipment.

  • Follow proper food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and personal grooming standards.

  • Handle crockery, glassware, cutlery, and service equipment carefully to minimize breakage and losses.

  • Follow responsible service procedures and immediately report any unusual guest or operational concerns to the supervisor.

  • Coordinate effectively with the kitchen, bar, cashier, hostess, and other Food & Beverage team members.

  • Assist with setting up and breaking down restaurant areas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, conferences, and special events.

  • Participate in stock-taking and report shortages or damaged items to the supervisor.

  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, health and safety regulations, and security requirements.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding guests and company information.

  • Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor or management.

  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent qualification.

  • Certificate or diploma in Hospitality Management, Catering, Food & Beverage, or a related field is an advantage.

  • Previous experience as a waiter, server, or in a similar customer-service role is preferred.

  • Experience in a hotel, restaurant, lounge, or other hospitality environment is an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service procedures.

  • Basic computer/POS knowledge is an advantage.

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Salary

N100,000 - N120,000 per month.
