Job title: VP, Medical Affairs United States

About the Role Foundation Medicine seeks a Vice President, Medical Affairs (United States) to lead the medical affairs function, align clinical and research efforts, and engage key opinion leaders. This global role collaborates with Commercial, Communications, Regulatory, and Market Access teams to ensure scientific accuracy, compliant field engagement, and patient-focused care. The VP serves as a primary external and internal spokesperson and drives strategy, ethics and safety across FMI services.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all aspects of Medical Affairs including Medical Strategy, Medical Communications & External Programs, and Field teams; recruit and develop a high-functioning team; serve as principal spokesperson; advise executives; establish and approve budgets.
  • Provide strategic leadership for Medical Affairs; implement field team strategy; oversee lifecycle management and KOL networks; develop patient and education strategies; collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial, Communications, Regulatory, and Market Access.
  • Develop medical content and training for multiple formats; review key communications; ensure compliant delivery; collaborate with Commercial to maintain Speaker's Bureau; support clinical and research programs with Educational workflows and customer engagement strategies.
  • Lead Medical Insights; share knowledge with cross-functional partners; identify external KOLs and plan scientific advisory boards; provide early insights on new services and indications.
  • Ensure integration with Roche Global Medical Affairs and FMI, maintain medical input for marketing, corporate communications, and sales; translate external insights into field strategy; promote ethical standards; travel at least 30% of time.

What We're Looking For

  • MD with experience in oncology, genomics or a quantitative science; 10+ years of progressive work experience in scientific or medical roles within the life science or medical affairs industry.
  • Preferred: PhD within oncology, genomics or a quantitative science; 10+ years of progressively responsible work experience in scientific or medical roles within the medical affairs industry or clinical practice; 5+ years of experience in field medical; expert domain knowledge of oncology.
