As the commercial leader for health plan strategy at Helix, you’ll own the growth of health plan business. As part of the Commercial team, you’ll originate and close new partnerships, build executive relationships, and shape the pricing, packaging, and deal structure with health plans and payviders. You’ll turn customer needs into products and programs that improve care and lower the cost of care, working closely with Delivery to ensure those programs achieve measurable results.
Why this role is different
- Transform how health plans use genomics: You’ll build on Helix’s Sequence Once, Query Often model to help health plans move beyond traditional, one-time diagnostic testing toward a reusable source of genomic insights that can inform care throughout a member’s life. Working with health-plan leaders, you’ll create benefit structures, targeted clinical programs, and shared savings models that translate those insights into better medication decisions, earlier intervention, and lower total cost of care.
- A builder’s mandate: You’ll shape a growing service line, with a direct connection between customer needs, product decisions, commercial growth, and program performance
- Find and build high-value use cases: Working closely with customers, you’ll identify populations and care priorities where genomic insights can deliver meaningful clinical and economic value, then turn those opportunities into compelling business cases and scalable programs
As VP, Business Development, Health Plan Partnerships, you will:
- Own the health plan growth strategy: Define priority markets, customer segments, and use cases, with accountability for selling and growing Helix’s health plan and payvider service line
- Win and expand customer partnerships: Build executive relationships, lead complex enterprise sales, negotiate commercial agreements, and grow partnerships across populations, markets, and lines of business
- Shape the commercial roadmap: Translate health plan and payvider needs into priorities, working with Product, Medical, and Delivery to define solutions that fit customer workflows and can scale
- Develop compelling economic value propositions: Inform ROI models and business cases that connect Helix’s capabilities to customer priorities, including member engagement, preventive care, care management, and total cost of care
- Build the go-to-market approach: Partner with Marketing and Business Development to define target customers, sharpen the Helix value proposition, and develop pricing, packaging, and commercial strategies that turn interest into adoption
- Turn program results into growth: Work closely with Delivery to address performance gaps, demonstrate customer value, and use program insights to inform commercial improvements, renewals, and expansion
- Inform strategy through market insight: Track health plan priorities, competitive offerings, and reimbursement and value-based care trends to identify new product and commercial opportunities
- Define how to uses AI to accelerate market analysis, build business cases, and improve customer deliverable quality
About you
- 10+ years of experience in health plans, payviders, population health, or a related healthcare strategy or commercial role, with meaningful experience working within or selling to payer organizations
- A track record of selling and growing complex healthcare products or services, with direct accountability for revenue and customer expansion
- Strong understanding of health plan economics, purchasing decisions, clinical priorities, and the operational realities of implementing new programs
- Experience leading enterprise conversations with health plan and payvider executives and building a clear clinical and economic case for adoption
- Ability to translate customer needs into product priorities, commercial strategies, and measurable program objectives
- Experience partnering with delivery or operations teams to establish KPIs, evaluate results, and improve customer performance
- Clear, credible communicator who can work effectively across clinical, commercial, product, and technical teams
- AI tools are a natural part of how you work - to synthesize market insights, model ROI scenarios, and move faster on customer deliverables
Pluses:
- Leadership experience within a health plan or an integrated payer-provider organization, with responsibility for strategy, growth, clinical programs, or innovation
- Experience bringing a new healthcare offering to market and scaling it from initial partnerships into a repeatable business
- Familiarity with genomics, precision medicine, or population health programs and their application to health plan priorities
- Experience developing health economic models, outcomes-based contracts, or value-based commercial arrangements
- An MBA, MPH, or advanced degree in a relevant business, clinical, or health-related field
Additional Information: The base pay range for this role is $187,000 – $246,250 per year.
