Job title: Volunteer Tutor

About the Role Experience Corps is a nationwide volunteer program that trains people over 50 to tutor students to become better readers by the end of third grade. Volunteers receive training and ongoing support and contribute to improved reading outcomes across 18 communities in the United States.

What You'll Do

  • Tutor elementary students to become better readers by the end of their third-grade year.
  • Participate in initial training and ongoing support provided by Experience Corps.
  • Collaborate with local schools and community partners across 18 communities to deliver tutoring services.
  • Sign up to volunteer and commit to regular tutoring sessions.

What We're Looking For

  • Older adults (typically 50+) who want to give back to their communities and help children succeed in reading.
  • Willingness to commit to volunteering and participate in training; no formal teaching credentials required (training is provided).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patience and appreciation for youth development and social-emotional growth.
  • Interest in staying active, building skills, and making a meaningful difference in education.
