Job title: Volunteer - Tax-Aide
About the Role AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers provide free tax preparation help to neighbors nationwide. As a volunteer, you’ll receive training and support, learn new skills, and make a positive impact as part of a team.
What You'll Do
- Welcome taxpayers, organize paperwork, describe the tax prep process, and manage the overall flow of service.
- Help taxpayers find credits and deductions, learn to prepare taxes, and file returns (training provided).
- Manage computer equipment, secure taxpayer data, assist with software/site administration, and provide technical assistance.
- Oversee volunteer assignments and ensure site management and operations run smoothly.
- Promote AARP Foundation Tax-Aide and recruit prospective volunteers and taxpayers in your local community.
- If you speak a second language, there is a big demand for bilingual interpreters who can assist other volunteers.
What We're Looking For
- Willingness to volunteer; training and support provided.
- Ability to commit to training and a range of hours per week (from a few up to 40 hours, varying by role and site).
- Strong communication and organizational skills; customer-service mindset.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus; prior tax or office experience not required.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual Interpreter skills in a second language.
- Interest in helping the community and working with a team of volunteers.
