About this role

About the Role The Voice and Unified Communications Engineer reports to the Network Communications Manager and provides technical services to IT teams and end-users within Squire Patton Boggs Technology. The role ensures effective problem resolution, knowledge transfer, and ongoing improvement across the global Technology team, while participating in design, implementation, commissioning and decommissioning of voice and UC infrastructure. What You'll Do

  • Maintain, administer, troubleshoot and upgrade the Firm's existing Voice platforms, including voicemail, devices and lines, and related solutions.
  • Support transitions to Unified Communications platforms; design, audit, test, configure and deploy solutions on a global basis.
  • Monitor health and performance of voice/UC infrastructure using monitoring tools; ensure capacity and availability.
  • Work with external vendors to identify faults and log circuit outages; coordinate hardware/software problem resolution with manufacturers.
  • Ensure platform security, manage vulnerabilities, and implement security enhancements; perform proactive capacity planning and disaster/recovery planning.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation; assist in design and implementation of new UC systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (on-site and remote) including firmware upgrades, cable plant, and backups; maintain routing tables and backups for Cisco platforms.
  • Analyze data for security and fraud detection; advise on security measures and platform hardening. What We're Looking For
  • Experience maintaining Cisco voice systems and telecommunication infrastructures; strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of VoIP & Telephony systems and UC platforms (Teams, Webex, Zoom).
  • Familiarity with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and cloud UC solutions; understanding of SIP and T1/E1 voice protocols.
  • Ability to work across global teams, manage vendor relationships, and document technical procedures.
  • Understanding of network security principles and vulnerability remediation. Nice to Have
  • Experience with call reporting solutions and QoS/monitoring tools.
  • Exposure to electronic fax solutions and traditional telecom circuits.
  • Prior involvement in design, auditing and deployment of large-scale UC solutions. Compensation & Benefits
