Job title: Visiting Professor of Law, Legal Research and Writing
About the Role The Visiting Professor of Law, Legal Research and Writing is a one-year appointment for the 2025-26 academic year at the McGeorge School of Law. The successful candidate will teach three Global Lawyering Skills (GLS) courses and contribute to a student-focused, collegial faculty environment. There is an anticipated possibility of a full-time hire starting in 2026-2027.
What You'll Do
- Teach three GLS courses (GLS I in Fall of the first-year, GLS II in Spring of the first-year, GLS III in Fall of the second-year) covering legal research, writing, and oral advocacy.
- Engage with students and support their skill development in a diverse, inclusive setting.
- Employ technology and innovative teaching methods; participate in program activities within the Global Lawyering Skills program.

- Juris Doctorate (JD) or equivalent degree.
- Exceptional academic record and excellent written communication.
- Commitment to the law school's vision, mission, and core values; strong interpersonal skills.
- Technological competence; ability to work with diverse backgrounds and cultures; experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion; ability to engage in culturally responsive practices.
Nice to Have
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting (if not already listed above).
- Additional teaching or professional experience in lawyering skills or related areas.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: not disclosed in the posting; this is a one-year visiting position. The role is in-person (Sacramento campus) with relocation within California preferred (within ~25 miles).
