• The Art Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in printmaking whose work is grounded in studio practice, scholarship and teaching. The successful candidate’s research and teaching will situate the practice of printmaking within historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary frameworks. This is a temporary one-year position for the 2027-28 academic year. In addition to teaching printmaking at the introductory and advanced level, the position will require teaching one course in introductory drawing or introductory painting. Teaching expectation is three courses in the fall and two courses in the spring, with additional responsibility for mentoring senior concentrators. The successful candidate can expect active support for their creative work. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. • This position requires a strong grounding in printmaking skills, including the ability to manage a printmaking studio. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach a strong foundation in perceptual, formal, conceptual and critical skills within a liberal arts context and to engage students in the social and theoretical dimensions of printmaking as a contemporary practice. We seek candidates who possess a capacity to interweave theory and practice, who demonstrate effective collaborative skills, and who display a commitment to undergraduate education in the liberal arts.

• The Art department at Hamilton College is a vibrant and robust department of six fulltime faculty serving 15-20 concentrators per year, as well as hundreds of non-major students each year. We are fortunate to teach in a state-of-the-art building that was completed in 2014 and which supports both analog practices as well as emerging technologies across 2D, 3D and time-based media offerings. • Candidates must have an MFA, a record of effective teaching in higher education, and a demonstrated record of scholarly and creative achievement. The expected 9-month salary for this position is $79,950 to $82,450.
