Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry or Biochemistry

About the Role Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry or Biochemistry, to begin August 1, 2026. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach undergraduate courses for students in the Biochemistry major as well as support classes for the Biology major, core, and Nursing program. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach a one-year sequence of Biochemistry with lab or an Introductory chemistry course for Nursing or Analytical Chemistry. The position requires teaching a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The college emphasizes a Catholic Benedictine identity and a liberal arts education. What You'll Do

• Teach undergraduate courses for students in the Biochemistry major as well as support classes for the Biology major, core, and Nursing program.
• Potentially teach a one-year sequence of Biochemistry with lab or an Introductory chemistry course for Nursing or Analytical Chemistry.
• The individual filling this position will teach a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester. What We're Looking For
• Master’s Degree in chemistry or an associated field; doctoral degree preferred (ABD accepted).
• Ability to teach a one-year sequence of General Chemistry with labs or Organic Chemistry with labs.
• Solid foundation in the liberal arts and ability to articulate scientific insights in the context of the liberal arts educational tradition and the Catholic understanding of the human person.
• Commitment to an intellectual life consistent with the College’s identity as a Catholic, Benedictine school that aims to provide an excellent undergraduate education in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified.
• Preference given to candidates who can demonstrate a philosophy of teaching and research that fits well with the institution’s emphasis on the education of the whole person and Ex Corde Ecclesiae. Nice to Have
• PhD in chemistry or related field.
• Demonstrated philosophy of teaching and research aligned with the institution’s mission and Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
