About the Role
- Dokitami is looking for a creative and highly skilled Video Editor who can transform scripts, voiceovers, raw footage, B-roll, stock assets, and other creative materials into polished, engaging, high-performing video content.
- The ideal candidate understands that great editing goes beyond simply putting clips together. You should be able to interpret a script, understand the story being told, and make creative decisions around visuals, pacing, typography, transitions, sound, captions, and B-roll to keep viewers engaged.
- You will work closely with the videographer and creative team to produce content for social media, paid advertising, digital campaigns, and other Dokitami platforms.
Key Responsibilities

Edit short-form and long-form videos for social media, paid advertising, and digital campaigns.

Transform scripts, voiceovers, raw footage, B-roll, stock footage, images, music, and other assets into finished videos.

Create engaging pacing, transitions, captions, subtitles, typography, and visual storytelling that support the narration.

Select and source appropriate stock footage, images, music, and other creative assets where required.

Use AI-generated assets and AI-assisted workflows where appropriate.

Ensure visuals are properly timed with narration, music, dialogue, and the overall story.

Apply appropriate colour correction, sound design, transitions, effects, and other post-production techniques.

Follow creative direction while contributing original ideas to improve the quality and performance of each edit.

Make revisions based on feedback and deliver completed videos within agreed timelines.

Maintain consistency with Dokitami's brand identity, visual standards, and platform requirements.

Manage and organise raw footage, project files, assets, and final exports.

Keep up with current video-editing trends and creative approaches, particularly those relevant to social media and performance marketing.

Work closely with the videographer and creative team to maintain an efficient content production workflow.

Communicate proactively regarding timelines, challenges, delays, or anything that may affect delivery.

Performance Expectations
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Consistently deliver assigned video edits within agreed timelines.
- Maintain a high standard of editing quality and professionalism.
- Respond promptly to creative feedback and revisions.
- Maintain consistency with Dokitami's brand standards.
- Contribute creative ideas to improve video quality and engagement.
- Maintain an organised editing workflow and file structure.
- Work effectively with the videographer and wider creative team.
- The existing Dokitami engagement structure specifies a minimum of five edited videos per week, with performance assessed on output consistency, quality, turnaround time, responsiveness to feedback, creative contribution, organisation, and collaboration.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Video Editor, preferably in social media, advertising, digital marketing, or content production.
- Strong knowledge of professional video-editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of:
- Video pacing
- Storytelling
- Typography
- Transitions
- Captions and subtitles
- Sound design
- Visual composition
- Colour correction
- B-roll selection
- Ability to take a script or voiceover and independently determine the appropriate visual treatment.
- Ability to work with stock footage, images, music, graphics, and other creative assets.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple video deliverables simultaneously.
- Ability to follow creative direction while bringing your own creative ideas to the work.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work within deadlines and respond effectively to feedback.
- A strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating your editing ability.
AI Video & Creative Tools — Plus:
- Experience with AI video and creative tools is a strong advantage.
- We particularly value editors who are comfortable exploring tools such as: HeyGen, ElevenLabs, Kling, Runway, Seedance, Higgsfield, Veo, or similar AI tools.
- Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:
- AI-generated characters
- AI voice generation or voice cloning
- Lip-sync technology
- AI image generation
- AI video generation
- AI-assisted editing workflows
- AI-generated B-roll and visual assets.
- AI skills are not mandatory.
- However, someone who can combine strong traditional video-editing skills with modern AI tools would be a valuable addition to the team.
Motion Graphics — Plus:
- Experience with After Effects, motion graphics, animated typography, visual effects, compositing, or other advanced editing techniques is also a strong advantage.
- This is not mandatory, but candidates who can combine strong video editing with motion graphics and creative visual treatments will have an advantage.
What We're Looking For:
- Beyond simply putting clips together, we want someone who understands creative storytelling.
- You should be able to receive a script and think critically about:
- What should the viewer see at each moment?
- Where should B-roll be introduced?
- How can typography reinforce the message?
- Where should the pacing accelerate or slow down?
- What transitions or visual effects would improve the story?
- How should music and sound design support the narrative?
- How can the first few seconds capture attention?
- How can the edit keep viewers engaged until the end?
- We also want someone who is willing to experiment.
- You should be comfortable exploring different editing approaches, visual styles, pacing techniques, transitions, and creative treatments rather than relying on the same template for every video.
Equipment & Work Requirements:
The successful candidate should have:
- A capable computer suitable for professional video editing.
- Reliable internet connection.
- Access to the required editing software.
- Sufficient storage for handling large video files.
- Ability to receive, download, edit, upload, and transfer large video files remotely.
- Any additional software subscriptions or tools specifically required and approved for Dokitami work may be covered by the Company.
Salary
N350,000 per month.
