Job title: Video API Engineer
About the Role Cloudinary is seeking a Video API Engineer to design, build, and optimize our video platform. You will work on end-to-end video workflows—from encoding and transcoding to delivery and analytics—to empower developers to deliver branded, high-performance video experiences.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate on building and maintaining Cloudinary's Video API features, including automatic transcoding, adaptive bitrate streaming, and dynamic overlays.
- Implement support for codecs (HEVC, VP9, AV1) and latest formats.
- Develop live streaming capabilities and on-the-fly encoding.
- Create tooling for engagement analytics, AI previews, and automatic tagging and transcripts.
- Integrate security, encryption, and privacy best practices.
- Collaborate with product and customer engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with video processing and cloud-based APIs.
- Experience with AI-powered tagging, transcription, and moderation.
- Understanding of accessibility features like subtitles and alternate audio tracks.
- Familiarity with dynamic overlays and image-to-video transformations.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable media workloads.
- Knowledge of codecs and streaming concepts related to modern video delivery.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with large-scale media delivery and cloud deployments.
- Familiarity with media asset management and dynamic overlays.
- Exposure to live streaming and simulcasting workflows.
