About this role
Your team
BlackRock’s Strategic Clients team partners with some of the firm’s largest wealth clients across Australia and New Zealand, including leading banks, retail pension funds, platforms and wealth managers. These relationships span investments, technology, marketing and distribution. The team combines BlackRock’s global platform, investment expertise, technology capabilities and local market insight to help clients identify structural growth opportunities, address complex business challenges and build long-term strategic partnerships.
Your role and impact
As a Vice President in the Australia Wealth team, you will operate at the intersection of investments, technology, portfolio construction, marketing and distribution. You will partner with major wealth clients to understand their strategic priorities, economics, operating models and decision-making structures, identifying where structural market shifts create opportunities for long-term growth.
This role offers senior client exposure, meaningful commercial ownership and the opportunity to help shape the future of wealth management across Australia and New Zealand. You will use BlackRock’s global investment, technology and platform capabilities to develop enterprise-level solutions, strengthen strategic partnerships and deliver measurable client and commercial outcomes.
Your responsibilities
In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:
- Own multi-year strategic account plans for priority Australian and New Zealand wealth clients, translating enterprise priorities and market shifts into defined opportunity themes, stakeholder strategies, partnership milestones and measurable outcomes.
- Develop a deep understanding of client business models, economics, operating structures and competitive pressures, informed by structural shifts across advice, platforms, superannuation, retirement income, digital wealth, managed accounts and portfolio construction.
- Originate and progress enterprise partnership opportunities that combine BlackRock’s investment, technology, portfolio construction, product innovation, data, insights, education, marketing and distribution capabilities.
- Build trusted relationships with senior clients and industry participants through regular executive engagement, disciplined follow-through and alignment with agreed strategic priorities.
- Mobilise investment, product, technology, legal, compliance, marketing and operations teams to advance complex, multi-stakeholder opportunities from concept through execution.
- Deliver measurable commercial and client outcomes through new mandates, solutions adoption, technology engagement, enterprise partnership initiatives and broader platform adoption.
Your experience
- Demonstrated success in asset management, wealth management, investment consulting, strategic accounts, enterprise partnerships or a related financial services role, with the ability to operate effectively at a senior client and enterprise level.
- Strong understanding of the Australian and New Zealand wealth market, with the ability to identify structural opportunities across advice, platforms, superannuation, retirement income, digital wealth, managed accounts and portfolio construction.
- Experience engaging clients beyond product discussions, including business strategy, operating-model evolution, investment architecture, technology enablement and distribution growth.
- Curiosity about how large organisations operate, combined with the strategic thinking required to navigate complex stakeholders and develop solutions that help clients grow.
- Commercial judgement and enterprise-partnership capability, with experience building industry relationships, shaping compelling propositions, mobilising stakeholders and converting ideas into measurable outcomes.
- Investment fluency across exchange-traded funds and indexing, active management, alternatives, multi-asset strategies, accumulation, retirement and solutions-oriented propositions.
- Clear and confident communication, strong analytical capability, disciplined execution and a collaborative, high-ownership working style.
