Apply for This Job

ABM is one of the largest providers of integrated facility, engineering and infrastructure solutions in North America, with annualized revenue of approximately $8.75 billion and more than 100,000 team members. The company delivers janitorial, engineering, parking and mobility, electrical and mechanical, energy and specialty services through five reportable segments: Business & Industry, Manufacturing & Distribution, Education, Aviation, and Technical Solutions.

ABM has reached the point where these digital products need to be run as products: with a coherent platform underneath them, a real engineering organization around them, and a single leader accountable for both.

The Vice President, Product Engineering owns the engineering organization, technology platform and delivery accountability for ABM’s digital product portfolio — both the B2B portals used by ABM’s enterprise clients and the direct-to-consumer (B2C) portals and applications used by the public. The role owns architecture across ABM’s dual public cloud footprint on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, the engineering practices that govern how software is built and released, and the leadership bench required to scale the organization.

Benefit information

ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package. For information about ABM's benefits, visit ABM Employee Benefits | Staff & Management

Product Engineering Leadership

  • Own end-to-end engineering delivery for ABM's B2B client portals and B2C consumer-facing digital products, from architecture and development through production operations.
  • Partner with product management, business leaders, and segment leadership to translate commercial strategy into a sequenced, costed, and executable engineering roadmap.
  • Serve as the senior technology leader for product engineering, balancing speed, quality, scalability, security, and operational performance.
  • Establish and report executive-level engineering metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time for change, change failure rate, time to restore service, and engineering cost efficiency.
  • Act as the senior technical voice in enterprise client engagements, security reviews, solution design sessions, and strategic pursuits.
  • Own the financial case for the technology roadmap, including build-versus-buy decisions, total cost of ownership, and platform investment priorities.

Architecture, Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Define and govern ABM's cloud strategy across Azure and AWS, including workload placement, platform standards, vendor concentration risk, and cloud operating models.
  • Lead architecture for cloud-native applications utilizing containers, orchestration platforms, serverless technologies, API management, event-driven integration, managed data services, and infrastructure as code.
  • Build and operate a platform engineering capability that enables self-service infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability, and developer productivity within enterprise guardrails.
  • Own cloud financial management, including commitment strategies, workload optimization, showback/chargeback models, and unit-economics transparency.
  • Define and manage the hybrid architecture boundary between cloud platforms, on-premises environments, edge systems, and connected building technologies.

Enterprise Client Portal Platforms

  • Own the client-facing portal platform supporting enterprise customers across all ABM business segments.
  • Deliver scalable, configurable, multi-tenant platform capabilities that enable efficient onboarding and support long-term margin expansion.
  • Provide enterprise-grade identity, access management, federation, delegated administration, and role-based security models for complex client environments.
  • Partner with commercial and customer-facing teams to leverage platform capabilities in sales pursuits, renewals, and strategic account growth initiatives.

Consumer Digital Products

  • Own engineering delivery for consumer-facing digital experiences, including mobility, parking, payments, subscriptions, loyalty programs, EV charging, and self-service account management capabilities.
  • Lead engineering for high-volume, customer-facing web and mobile applications where performance, reliability, conversion, and user experience directly impact revenue and brand perception.
  • Own consumer identity, consent, privacy, accessibility, analytics, and digital experience standards across all digital products.
  • Lead payments engineering and PCI DSS compliance, including payment integrations, tokenization, reconciliation processes, and cardholder data protection.
  • Establish operating models for consumer support, outage communications, escalation management, and service recovery processes.

Engineering Organization & Talent

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing product engineering organization spanning platform engineering, application engineering, quality engineering, front-end engineering, and site reliability engineering.
  • Define workforce and sourcing strategies across employees, contractors, nearshore/offshore partners, and specialized vendors while maintaining accountability for delivery outcomes.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top engineering talent and create career paths for technical leaders and senior individual contributors.
  • Establish engineering standards, governance processes, and delivery practices that drive consistency, quality, maintainability, and long-term organizational effectiveness.

Security, Compliance & Operational Resilience

  • Partner with cybersecurity, risk, and compliance leaders to embed secure software development, privacy, regulatory compliance, resilience, disaster recovery, and operational risk management throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Maintain an accurate application and data portfolio, continuously modernizing or retiring systems that no longer provide strategic or economic value.
