About the Role
Riot Games is seeking a VFX Lead for the Singapore Studio (Unpublished R&D Product) to elevate visual effects, align Riot and partner studios, and maintain a world-class standard for skin VFX. You will lead the VFX discipline, provide clear creative direction, mentor artists, and ensure readable, impactful effects that support the creative vision. You will report into the Associate Art Director of the team.
What You'll Do\
- Lead, mentor, and grow the VFX craft in Singapore, serving as a center of excellence for feedback, partner alignment, and upholding Riot’s quality bar.\
- Own full lifecycle management of VFX team members—from selection and onboarding through performance development, feedback, and exits where necessary.\
- Set clear performance expectations for VFX staff and partner teams, providing regular feedback and managing performance effectively.\
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to partner studios to ensure VFX work meets readability and clarity standards.\
- Partner with studios throughout production—from kickoff through delivery—to ensure alignment on creative direction, technical quality, and schedule.\
- Build strong relationships with partner studios, fostering trust, transparency, and shared pursuit of craft excellence.\
- Review and evaluate VFX deliveries, guiding timing, color, composition, and motion for readability and visual impact.\
- Collaborate with the Associate Art Director, discipline leads, and Production teams in Singapore and Los Angeles to maintain workflow and quality consistency.\
- Identify risks early and work with production and partner studios to sustain delivery.\
- Contribute to documentation, visual guides, and training materials clarifying VFX standards for partner teams.\
- Occasionally provide hands-on guidance or paintovers to demonstrate desired motion, timing, or readability.\
- Foster collaboration, openness, and continuous learning with partner studios, aligning with Riot’s values and a player-first mindset.
What We're Looking For\ - 7+ years of professional experience creating visual effects for games, film, or real-time content.\
- 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role providing feedback, mentorship, and direction to VFX artists.\
- Deep mastery of VFX fundamentals—timing, color, composition, motion, and readability.\
- Experience with game engines (Unreal, Unity, or proprietary) and VFX toolchains.\
- Proven experience collaborating with and managing partner studios or external VFX teams.\
- Strong communication skills—able to articulate feedback and creative intent clearly across cultures and disciplines.\
- Excellent stakeholder management; able to work with art, tech, and production partners.\
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Nice to Have\ - Experience working on AAA titles.\
- Familiarity with modern VFX tools and systems.\
- Experience improving workflows or optimizing real-time performance.\
- Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.\
- Multilingual communication skills (e.g., Mandarin).
