About this role
You're More Than a Receptionist. You're the First Hello, the Helping Hand, and Part of the Family.
At Hernando Animal Clinic & Surgery Center, exceptional veterinary care starts with exceptional people. We're looking for a personable, organized, and customer-focused Veterinary Receptionist / Client Service Representative who understands that every client and every patient deserves to feel welcomed, heard, and cared for.
Serving Hernando, DeSoto County, and the greater Memphis area for more than 30 years, our team provides compassionate, full-service veterinary care for dogs, cats, chickens, birds, reptiles, and other small animals. At our newly opened facility, we combine modern veterinary medicine with personalized service and a genuine commitment to the people and pets who walk through our doors.
If you enjoy connecting with people, thrive in a busy environment, and want to make a meaningful difference in the veterinary experience, we'd love to meet you!
What You'll Do

You'll help keep the hospital running smoothly while creating a positive experience for clients and their pets.
-
Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm.
-
Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and assist clients with questions and requests.
-
Collect and update patient information, medical histories, and vaccination records.
-
Coordinate patient arrivals and communicate appointment needs with veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
-
Process invoices, payments, and client transactions accurately.
-
Assist with prescription refills, veterinary diets, and over-the-counter product requests as directed by the medical team.
-
Maintain accurate patient records and information within the hospital's practice management software.
-
Support daily front-desk operations and collaborate with teammates to keep appointments and patient flow organized.
-
Help create a welcoming, comfortable environment for clients navigating both routine visits and difficult moments in their pets' lives.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A friendly, approachable personality and a genuine interest in helping people.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort balancing phone calls, scheduling, client questions, and competing priorities.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn veterinary practice management software.
- A team-oriented mindset and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.
- Weekend availability as needed. Veterinary reception or animal hospital experience is a plus, but a strong customer service background and willingness to learn can go a long way. Experience in medical reception, healthcare customer service, hospitality, or other fast-paced customer-facing environments is also valuable.
