- Help USPS reach and support veterans in pursuing career opportunities, including participating in nationwide recruiting events.
- Ensure online applications clearly identify veteran's preference and collect required documentation such as DD-214 or other official discharge documents.
- Inform applicants about how military service may count toward retirement buyback (honorable or general discharge) and how service is creditable toward USPS careers.
- Explain the translation of military skills to USPS jobs and discuss related endorsements and waivers (e.g., CDL waivers for certain motor vehicle operator roles).
- Share information on veteran resources and benefits (OPM Veterans Services FAQs, eBenefits, SF-50, SF-15, Schedule A). What We're Looking For
- A commitment to veteran and family veteran employment and the ability to clearly identify veteran's preference on the online application.
- Knowledge of documentation requirements (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty – DD-214 – and other official documentation).
- Understanding that veterans' service credit requires honorable or general discharge for retirement buyback.
- Ability to translate military skills to USPS roles and awareness of related endorsements waivers and training.
- Familiarity with veteran information resources and the ability to guide applicants accordingly.
- Awareness of national recruiting events and the value of hiring our heroes through programs like Recruit Military, Corporate Gray, and Hiring Our Hero. Nice to Have
- Experience or interest in veteran-focused recruiting activities and familiarity with veteran service reference materials (OPM Veterans Services FAQs, eBenefits).
