About the Role Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) Regulation & Certification Department seeks a Vehicle Safety Regulatory Engineer to join the Safety Certification & Regulation Team in Superior Township, MI. This role helps ensure Hyundai and Kia vehicles meet changing safety, environmental, and emissions standards at federal, state, and local levels, and informs regulatory strategy through research and policy development. What You'll Do
- Review vehicle regulations and test procedures (FMVSS, state, & territories) from governmental entities (NHTSA, OVSC, NCAP, etc.) for product applicability and draft conclusion documents in clear and easily understandable language.
- Represent the company during various safety compliance or consumer information tests; investigate potential compliance issues and propose solutions.
- Perform visual compliance audits on new products.
- Support vehicle homologation and self-certification efforts.
- Execute trend analysis and benchmarking. What We're Looking For
- Experience researching and analyzing future regulatory trends to recommend internal action; ability to guide the direction of company research and help develop policy for public positions.
- Ability to communicate with regulatory agencies (NHTSA, FMCSA, FCC).
- Knowledge of reviewing FMVSS, state and territorial regulations and applying them to product development.
- Experience with vehicle homologation, self-certification, and compliance testing processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to draft clear conclusion documents and present findings.
