About this role

UX Designer

Join our dynamic Product team at our Netherlands studio and contribute to the evolution of beloved mobile titles like Online Soccer Manager and Mini Football. You will collaborate closely with product managers, game designers, producers, and developers, focusing on enhancing existing player experiences for games with substantial, established player bases.

In this role, you will serve as the primary advocate for the player, grounding all design decisions in thorough research and data analysis rather than assumptions. We are seeking an independent and skilled UX Designer who can take ownership of feature development with minimal supervision.

Your responsibilities will include crafting wireframes and prototypes in Figma, from initial concepts to detailed screens ready for implementation by developers and artists. You will conduct various forms of user research, including moderated and unmoderated tests and surveys, to answer critical design questions. Furthermore, you will build and maintain cohesive UX design systems and patterns across multiple games, ensuring consistency and quality.

You will actively review feature specifications and roadmap plans from a user experience perspective, providing early input to influence direction and clearly communicating potential player confusion or frustration. Collaborating with game designers and product managers, you will shape the overall feature design, not just its visual presentation. Balancing your time across multiple projects, you will maintain transparency regarding priorities and workload.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Wireframe and prototype features in Figma, from rough flows through to detailed screens that developers and artists can build from.
  • Run user research: moderated and unmoderated tests, surveys, and other sources that can help answer the question in front of you.
  • Build and maintain UX design systems and patterns, and keep them coherent across the games you work on.
  • Review feature specs and roadmap plans from a user experience angle, early enough to influence them, and say clearly when something is going to confuse or frustrate players.
  • Work with game designers and PMs on the shape of a feature, not just the screens it ends up needing.
  • Balance your time across projects and be transparent about what you're prioritising and what you're not.
  • Look at how competitors and games outside our genre solve similar problems, and bring back what's useful.
  • Partner with artists on handoff. You define structure, hierarchy and flow, they take it to final art.

Qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of UX design work on mobile products, ideally including live games.
  • Experience on free-to-play games, and on products with complex progression or economy systems.
  • Experience working on more than one product at a time.
  • Strong Figma skills, especially components, variants and prototyping.
  • Hands-on experience running user research and turning findings into design decisions.
  • Comfortable with quantitative data. You can look at a funnel and form a hypothesis about it.
  • Able to explain and defend design decisions to people who will push back, and to change your mind when they're right.
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system.
  • Self-directed. You can pick up a vague problem and come back with something concrete.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.

Benefits & Perks

  • Informal studio with a flat structure
  • Designers are expected to have opinions and to say them out loud
  • Move quickly, ship regularly
  • Don't confuse long hours with good work
  • Real ownership over what you build
  • Time set aside for your own development
