USPS

About this role

About the Role

USPS is hiring for multiple positions across the country including Holiday Clerks, Carriers, Mail Handler Assistant, City Carrier Assistant, PSE Mail Processing Clerk, and PSE Sales and Services/Distribution Associate. This posting outlines the application process, required screenings, and steps to finalize employment. What You'll Do

  • Apply for USPS positions using USPS Careers (jobs.usps.com) or the legacy eCareer system depending on the job.

  • Complete the application; if offered a job, complete screening which may include a background check, medical questionnaire, and/or motor vehicle record check.

  • Confirm your employment, select a start date, and finalize final details. You’ll be contacted by email within a few days to finalize your start date.

  • Be aware there are two application systems and determine which website to use based on the job you're applying for. What We're Looking For

  • Must be 18 years old at the time of appointment or 16 years old with a high school diploma.

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and medical assessment.

  • Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or citizen of American Samoa or other U.S. Territory.

  • Must provide recent employment history.

  • Must have a safe driving record (if applicable to the position).

  • Must be registered with Selective Service if applicable.

  • Background checks are conducted using U.S. information resources (FBI fingerprint check, state and county checks) with a 10-year inquiry in locations where you have resided/worked/schooled in the U.S. or its territories. Some limitations apply for those who have not resided in the U.S. or its territories for the last 5 years. In some cases the Inspection Service may only complete checks for U.S. Citizens under certain conditions. If a complete background check cannot be performed due to residency outside the U.S., you may be ineligible for Postal employment.

  • Residency outside the United States may affect eligibility; additional details apply for specific international experiences (e.g., trailing spouse, missionary, student, Peace Corps).
