About the Role The Universal Banker I blends teller responsibilities with proactive selling to serve members and potential members. You will assist with a wide range of financial needs including account openings, transactions, loans, and other credit union services, while building relationships and guiding members to appropriate products and solutions. What You'll Do
- Greet members warmly and make them feel valued and connected, in person, by phone, or digitally.
- Receive and process financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan/credit card payments and loan advances, issuing savings/cashier's checks, and redeeming savings bonds.
- Maintain a balancing record in accordance with teller balancing standards.
- Follow Credit Union policies and procedures to effectively handle problems, complaints, and special situations while remaining compliant.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks including balancing ATM, branch capture, branch recaps, maintenance of member accounts, processing night depository transactions and acting as the vault teller.
- Demonstrate full working knowledge of branch technology and systems, including ATMs, Cash Recyclers, Debit Card Instant Issue, Check Scanning, ITMs and Glory Teller Machines.
- Support branch operational ratings and corporate audits while complying with laws.
- Open and close Consumer and Business Membership accounts.
- Process loan applications; notify members of decisions, review documentation, deliver and witness signing of loan documents.
- Perform teller transactions by running teller cashbox as needed.
- Assess financial needs through consultative questions and recommend deposit products (checking, savings, IRAs, CDs) that align with goals.
- Collaborate with internal experts to provide creative solutions, resolve issues and improve members' financial well-being.
- Document member interactions and financial needs in the IRM system, ensuring timely and relevant follow-up.
- Educate members on the full range of services and how the credit union benefits them.
- Take a consultative approach to lending by identifying suitable personal, auto, and mortgage loan products.
- Gather member information and submit accurate loan documentation meeting compliance requirements; work with centralized lending teams.
- Maintain an organized follow-up plan in the IRM system; communicate loan statuses and service needs.
- Participate in ongoing training and development for universal banking, customer service, and compliance.
- Ensure all transactions and loan applications adhere to procedures, policies, and risk management.
- Collaborate with branch teams to improve efficiency and member satisfaction, and support safety procedures.
- Provide inbound and outbound telephone services as needed for transactions, information, problem resolution and product/service suggestions.
- Perform other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a financial branch, financial services, or comparable retail sales environment.
- Ability to cover at other branches and work Saturday rotation schedule.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with members and colleagues.
- Experience with loan applications and related internal policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current industry offers, market trends, lending and member service policies.
- Ability to interpret financial information (credit scores, debt, assets, balances, payments, interest rates) and perform math calculations.
- Analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and sound judgment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to pass a background check including credit, drug screen, and bond (as applicable). Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $23.00 per hour.
- Eligible for Universal Banker Incentive Program.
