About the Role New England Health Care Employees Union District 1199 SEIU is seeking an Organizer to support labor organizing campaigns across Connecticut. You will receive training in the fundamentals of union organizing and will help workers build power in the workplace through outreach, leadership development, and campaigns. This is a field-based role focused on mobilizing workers and strengthening the union. What You'll Do
- Conduct broad and intensive outreach to non-union workers.
- Build one-on-one relationships with workers.
- Identify, recruit and develop worker leaders.
- Conduct individual and group meetings to move campaigns forward.
- Engage, motivate and mobilize workers.
- Plan and carry out actions and events to support organizing efforts. What We're Looking For

- Ability and willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- Excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn the organization’s technology tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Willingness to conduct work site and home visits.
- Strong planning, time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and an automobile for business use.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Previous experience in political, community, or union organizing is highly preferred. Nice to Have
