About the Role
The UNESCO Internship Programme offers practical work in a multicultural environment and helps you understand the Organization's mandate and main thrusts. This internship is with the Division for Communications and Public Engagement and provides hands-on experience across internal and external communications. Duration is 1 to 6 months with a duty station at Headquarters, Field Offices, and Institutes.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the implementation of UNESCO's communication strategy across external and internal channels.
- Drafting and editing content for websites, press materials, newsletters, and social media assets; translate or edit as needed.
- Graphic design support for social media and digital platforms; on-site interview filming and postproduction.
- Create and manage newsletters; editorial scheduling, social media analytics, and SEO reports.
- Web-related tasks: new website creation, content translation/editing, uploading content to CMS/tools (e.g., Trello); maintain the web ecosystem; knowledge of programming languages and basic sysops.
- Press support: translate press releases and media advisories; prepare daily briefings; update mailing lists; assist with on-site events.
- Photo work: shooting, post-production, cataloging images; editing and layout for publications.
- Publishing and branding: provide editorial/technical support for publications; assist with IP issues and ISBN processes; quality control checks for contracts.
- UNESCO Campuses: help organize conferences and liaise with attendees; research schools worldwide; develop social media content and Campus web page.
- Green Citizens Initiative: draft articles for the platform and newsletters; contribute to SEO and external relations; identify speaking opportunities; support visibility reporting.
- UNESCO Courier: select, edit, and publish articles, photos, and videos; translate and layout pages; develop distribution networks and help promote the magazine.
What We're Looking For
- Age at least 20 years old.
- Academic qualifications: currently enrolled and in 3rd year or final year of Bachelor's; or enrolled in Master's/PhD; or recently completed degree within 12 months; or vocational students in last year or recent graduate.
- Languages: excellent written and spoken English or French; working knowledge of the other language is an asset.
