About the Role As a Casualty Underwriting Manager, you will underwrite all Casualty lines within delegated authority, guiding the underwriting process to help meet budget and profitability goals. You will collaborate with distributions, branch managers and other Profit Centres to grow the book of business and manage risk. What You'll Do
- Underwrite all Casualty lines within delegated authority and adhere to product guidelines.
- Maintain risk selection in line with guidelines and help achieve rate, renewal retention and new business goals.
- Maintain accurate files and adhere to service level agreements for premium processing, policy issuance and file maintenance.
- Collaborate with Distributions, Branch Managers and other lines of Profit Centre to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with producers to profitably grow the book of business.
- Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with producers.
- Attend client/broker/agency functions when required.
- Participate in projects/initiatives and assist the Team Manager with monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting, forecasting and planning cycles. What We're Looking For
- Proven underwriting experience in Casualty products including Environmental.
- A team player with a positive attitude, innovative mindset, flexibility, strong problem-solving and results orientation.
- Knowledge of reinsurance and portfolio management techniques.
- Demonstrated sales, marketing and relationship-building experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong risk analysis and technical skills.
- Experience with underwriting analytical tools and technology.
