About the Role

The University of Saint Francis is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach undergraduate science courses in Crown Point, IN under the Sciences and Medical Studies Pathway. The role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction in biology-related courses and coordinating with program objectives, benefiting Saint Francis students and community. The position is part-time and involves teaching both in-person and online sections.

What You'll Do

  • Teach on-ground (Crown Point, IN) and/or online sections for undergraduate Anatomy and Physiology lectures/labs, Microbiology lectures/labs, and Pathophysiology lectures.
  • Teach courses consistent with catalog descriptions and content maps; teach at the scheduled times; maintain required contact hours.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice in fulfilling all faculty roles; collaborate with colleagues for instructional improvement via professional peer review.
  • Submit reports and requests for information promptly; fulfill the Code of Ethics of the university and the profession.
  • Use effective teaching methods to facilitate classroom and/or clinical learning experiences; create an effective learning environment; communicate with students.
  • Facilitate critical reflection and support innovation; provide timely feedback and fairly evaluate student progress; evaluate laboratory and classroom performance; offer guidance as needed to promote student success.
  • Propose plans to improve student performance; maintain records such as test scores, notes and attendance; assignments may be adjusted at the Department Chair's discretion.

What We're Looking For

  • Education: An earned master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in biology, biomedical sciences, or another closely related discipline; OR sufficient knowledge and at least five years’ experience in a relevant field with teaching/instructional experience.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of educational theory, instructional methods, and evaluation techniques; experience using technology in higher education; strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all university constituents; ability to coordinate services for diverse populations; willingness to work irregular and sometimes long hours, including weekends, university breaks, and times when not under contract.
