Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and product-minded UI Developer to join the CX One OMS UI, SAP's unified back-office interface for Order Management Services. The UI brings co-operatively multiple OMS applications into one coherent experience, helping enterprise customers manage their order operations across channels and fulfilment networks.
This means you will not be starting from scratch: you will be inheriting a working codebase, contributing to its technical quality and completeness, and helping deliver something stable and polished to market. You'll work in a team of engineers in a collaborative, agile environment where delivery discipline and technical craftsmanship go hand in hand.
You will help the team use effective AI-assisted development practices. You will use new tools and workflows. The goal is to improve productivity. We also want to maintain software quality, security, and maintainability. This will drive customer impact.
What You'll Do
-
You'll design, develop, and maintain production-grade AI-enabled features and services, with a focus on scalability and reliability. LLM integration and basic RAG workflows, including prompt management and response validation, are part of your core work. You'll build and improve evaluation and benchmarking pipelines to measure AI output quality and system performance. Application health, latency, throughput, and system efficiency are areas you'll actively monitor and improve. Debugging and resolving production issues, contributing to incident analysis, and implementing stability fixes are all expected. You'll support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. Cross-functional collaboration to refine requirements and improve system design is a regular expectation.
-
Build, refine, and harden features in a production-grade React / TypeScript frontend that serves enterprise customers managing complex order management operations
-
Apply the SAP Design System consistently, using an enterprise UI component library as the underlying toolkit
-
Translate Figma designs and UX specifications into user interfaces that are precise, accessible, and responsive. Identify any design ambiguities and technical limitations early while collaborating with UX designers and product owners.
-
Implement and maintain REST API integrations with robust error handling, loading state management, and consistent data patterns
-
Write unit, component, and integration tests (Vitest, React Testing Library) and contribute to E2E test coverage (Playwright)
-
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and the reliability of build and deployment automation
-
Participate actively in code reviews, giving and receiving constructive, specific feedback
-
Use AI-assisted development tools every day. This includes tasks such as implementing, refactoring, generating tests, and creating documentation. Always review and validate any AI-generated results before accepting them.
-
Contribute to production monitoring and troubleshooting. Use telemetry, browser error tracking, and user feedback to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in production
-
Support technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
-
-
What You Bring
-
You have robust coding and debugging skills and hands-on experience building and operating cloud-based microservices. A solid awareness of APIs, distributed systems basics, and CI/CD practices is required. Experience with AI/LLM workflows, including prompt design, basic RAG patterns, and integrating AI services into applications, is important. Knowledge with observability (logging, metrics, tracing), performance tuning, and system monitoring is expected. An ownership mindset, combined with experience in testing, validation, and troubleshooting production systems, will set you up to contribute well.
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent functional experience
-
Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience, with meaningful recent frontend experience
-
Strong TypeScript proficiency - comfortable with types, generics, type narrowing, async patterns, and working in a fully typed codebase
-
Solid production experience with React. This includes working with functional components and hooks. It involves component composition, managing state, and developing with a focus on performance.
-
Robust experience with an enterprise UI component library - component usage, customization, and theme integration with a design system
-
Solid grasp of HTML, CSS, and browser fundamentals including accessibility semantics, responsive design, and cross-browser behavior
-
Knowledge with design systems and design tokens
-
Knowledge with modern frontend build tooling (Vite or similar), package management, and code quality tooling (ESLint, Prettier)
-
Knowledge with CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or similar) - comfortable navigating and contributing to build and deployment workflows
-
Security fundamentals include authentication and authorization methods like JWT, OAuth2, and OIDC. Knowledge of input validation is also important. You should be aware of the OWASP Top 10.
-
Comfortable writing unit and component tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Vitest, or similar) and E2E tests (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
-
Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows
-
Genuine, practiced experience using AI coding assistants and agents (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) as a real part of your development workflow, beyond the use of autocomplete. Able to decompose tasks for AI execution, write effective specifications with the right context and constraints, and critically review AI-generated code with the same rigour as any other contribution
-
Nice to Have
-
Knowledge with the SAP Design System, SAP Fiori, or the SAP Horizon theme
-
Experience with Storybook or similar tools for component documentation and design system consumption
-
Knowledge with RTK Query
-
Experience with accessibility auditing tools (a11y, Lighthouse, or similar)
-
Knowledge of SAP infrastructure platforms (BTP, Kyma) or cloud platforms (Azure)
-
Knowledge with OMS domain concepts (order capture, fulfilment, inventory, returns)
-
Contributions to open-source projects
-
How You Work
-
You'll own features and modules end-to-end and work closely with product, data, platform, and AI teams to align on goals and deliver quality results. This team values direct communication, shared accountability, and continuous improvement. You'll participate in code reviews, share technical knowledge, and help build team capabilities as you develop deeper expertise in AI-native application development.
We value the skills you bring and support you to build on them through our learning and development opportunities. These are the skills associated with this role:
-
You take ownership of what you build: correctness, accessibility, performance, and production behaviour
-
You review AI-generated output critically. You understand it is untrusted input until validated through tests, static analysis, and careful reading
-
You are proactive on clarifying ambiguous requirements
-
You are comfortable inheriting an existing codebase and improving it incrementally
-
You are a continuous learner, particularly in the fast-moving space of AI-assisted development, where practices are evolving quickly
-
You collaborate openly, give honest code review feedback, and receive it constructively
-
You value user experience and functional correctness
-
