Description

This is a temporary, grant-funded part-time position supporting recruitment and outreach efforts for Atlantic Cape Community College's new Associate in Applied Science Degree and Certificate in Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Data Technician. The Outreach Specialist will serve as an ambassador for the program by conducting presentations and drone flight demonstrations at local high schools, community organizations, and youth serving groups. The position requires travel throughout the region and the ability to engage prospective students, educators, parents, and community stakeholders in discussions about careers and educational pathways in drone technology and data collection.

Examples of Duties

Conduct outreach visits to approximately 15-20 high schools, community organizations, and youth groups during the grant period

Deliver engaging presentations promoting the Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Data Technician degree and certificate programs

Perform safe and professional drone flight demonstrations in accordance with FAA regulations and institutional policies

Explain educational and career opportunities related to drone operations, data collection, mapping, inspection, and related technologies

Distribute program information, recruitment materials, and answer questions from prospective students and community members

Coordinate outreach activities and schedules with college staff and community partners

Maintain records Of Outreach events, attendance, and participant engagement for grant reporting purposes

Ensure all drone operations comply with applicable federal, state, local, and institutional requirements

Assist with special recruitment events, open houses, and other college-sponsored activities as assigned

Perform related duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma Or GED required
- Associate degree or higher preferred
- Educational background in aviation, unmanned aircraft systems, geospatial technology, engineering, public safety, or a related field preferred
Certifications:
- Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate with a Small UAS Rating required
- Ability to maintain certification throughout employment
Experience
- Experience Operating small unmanned aircraft systems (drones)
- Experience presenting to groups, conducting demonstrations, or working in educational, community outreach, or recruitment environments preferred
- Experience working with high school-aged students and community organizations preferred

Supplemental Information
Terms of Employment:
-
This position is funded through a grant and is temporary in nature. The anticipated duration of employment is based on grant funding availability and project timelines

The position requires travel throughout the College service area to conduct outreach events and presentations.

Flexible scheduling is required and may include daytime, evening, and occasional weekend assignments.

Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with college policy.

Successful candidates must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to transport and operate drone equipment at outreach locations

Paid sick leave in accordance with NJ Sick Leave Law

Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP)

Eligible part-time employees will be enrolled into the DCRP (Defined Contribution Retirement Plan) pension. Employees contribute 5% of their base salary and the college contributes 3% of base salary. Investment options are managed through Prudential Retirement. Life insurance benefits through DCRP are payable to the beneficiary at 1.5X the member's salary.
