We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: TV / Radio Head of Programs Location: Akure, Ondo Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Programming Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the Station's overall TV and Radio programming strategy.

  • Develop a balanced and competitive programme schedule that attracts and retains target audiences.

  • Review existing programmes and recommend improvements, replacement or new programme concepts.

  • Identify emerging audience trends and opportunities for new content.

  • Ensure programming supports the Station's brand positioning and revenue objectives.

  • Programme Development & Production:

  • Generate and develop innovative programme ideas for TV, Radio and digital platforms.

  • Oversee programme concepts, scripts, formats, production plans and content calendars.

  • Supervise producers, presenters, anchors, reporters and other programme personnel.

  • Ensure programmes are delivered according to approved production standards, schedules and budgets.

  • Coordinate live broadcasts, special programmes, outside broadcasts and major Station events.

  • Content Quality & Editorial Standards:

  • Ensure all programmes meet professional broadcasting and editorial standards.

  • Monitor programme content for accuracy, relevance, balance, originality and audience appeal.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable broadcasting regulations and Station policies.

  • Work with the News, Production, Marketing, Technical and Digital teams to ensure seamless content delivery.

  • Promote ethical, responsible and credible broadcasting.

  • Audience Development:

  • Monitor audience feedback, ratings, engagement and programme performance.

  • Use audience insights to improve programming decisions.

  • Develop programmes that address the interests and needs of identified target audiences.

  • Encourage audience participation through phone-ins, social media, digital platforms and other interactive formats.

  • Revenue & Commercial Programming:

  • Work closely with the Business Development/Marketing team to create commercially viable programmes.

  • Identify opportunities for sponsored programmes, branded content, partnerships and special programming.

  • Ensure sponsored and paid programmes meet agreed commercial and editorial requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of programme proposals and sponsorship packages.

  • People & Team Management:

  • Lead, coach and motivate the Programmes Department.

  • Set performance expectations and KPIs for programme staff.

  • Allocate responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.

  • Identify training and development needs.

  • Promote teamwork, discipline, creativity and professional excellence.

  • Programme Scheduling & Coordination:

  • Prepare and maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly programme schedules.

  • Ensure programmes are delivered on air according to the approved schedule.

  • Coordinate programme changes, replacements and special broadcasts.

  • Work closely with the Master Control Room/Technical team to minimize missed programmes, dead air and transmission disruptions.

  • Programme Performance & Reporting:

  • Establish measurable KPIs for programmes and presenters.

  • Regularly review programme performance and audience response.

  • Prepare periodic programme reports for Management.

  • Track programme production costs and ensure effective use of resources.

  • Recommend actions to improve programme quality, audience engagement and commercial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree / HND in Mass Communication, Broadcasting, Journalism, Media Studies, Performing Arts or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification or additional qualification in Broadcasting, Media Management or related field will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in television and/or radio broadcasting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position.
  • Demonstrable experience in programme production, scheduling and content development.
  • Experience managing presenters, producers and programme teams.
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian broadcasting environment.
  • Experience with both traditional and digital media will be an advantage.
