Job title: Tutor - Ninde College Access Program
About the Role The Ninde College Access Program serves 7th-12th grade students in the Oberlin City School District. As a tutor, you will provide academic support in challenging classes, discuss college preparation, reinforce student success, mentor students through career exploration, and maintain a consistent presence in the scholars' lives.
What You'll Do
- Tutor 2-3 Scholars once a week (1 hour each) from September-May (Winter Term Excluded)
- Proactively contact scholars in order to confirm appointments
- Attend tutor meetings and trainings
- Commit to tutoring for full academic year
- Attend Ninde Family events as available
- Serve as leader and mentor to Ninde Scholars
- Gather feedback and report on success and/or areas of suggested improvement
- Build strong relationships with scholars, program tutors and program facilitators
- Report information (tutor log, surveys, feedback) as requested by program facilitators
What We're Looking For
- Oberlin College student
- Strong writing, reading and organization skills, with an ability to follow through with commitments
- Strong Math and Science background a plus
- Interest in working with students in grades 7-12, from various backgrounds and ability levels
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for Ninde Scholars
Nice to Have
- Strong Math and Science background (preferred)
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation starting at $14 an hour with increases due to time in position and other Ninde program activities.
