About the Role Tutorial Services offers limited peer tutor positions for qualified UM-Flint students across specific subjects and for tutoring in learning strategies and software tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Python, SPSS, Excel, Access). Tutors work in individual or lab settings with on-demand scheduling; occasional evenings and weekends may be required. New tutors complete a general training program and ongoing training throughout the academic year. What You'll Do
- Provide on-demand tutoring to students in individual and/or lab settings
- Assist students in learning strategies and in using software programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Python, SPSS, Excel, and Access
- Complete required training before starting and four hours of continuing training over the academic year
- Preference will be given to applicants who can tutor multiple courses within one or more disciplines for which they have a faculty recommendation What We're Looking For
- Current UM-Flint student (or recent student who has attended UM-Flint within past six months) with ability to obtain a faculty recommendation for each course to tutor
- Strong communication and instructional skills; ability to adapt to on-demand tutoring with varying schedules
- Availability for in-person tutoring in individual or lab settings; flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends Nice to Have
- Ability to tutor multiple courses within one or more disciplines for which you have a faculty recommendation
- Familiarity with computer software programs supported by the role: Adobe Illustrator, Python, SPSS, Excel, and Access
