About the Role LIU Brooklyn's Center for Learning and Academic Success (CLAS) seeks part-time tutors to work with students individually or in small groups. Tutors aim to improve learning through active learning, self-reflection and practical application, acting as mentors rather than traditional instructors.
What You'll Do
- Tutor students individually or in small groups, focusing on developing better learners.
- Uphold LIU Brooklyn's policies of academic integrity and serve as a positive role model.
- Support teaching methods of tutoring: guiding, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback; collaborate with subject specialists.
- Uphold the National Tutoring Association's Code of Ethics.
- Maintain accurate records and report concerns to the Director; participate in Mentor Groups and Tutor Development meetings; complete periodic tutoring evaluations as requested.
