Job title: Trucking Business Development Consultant (BDC)
About the Role The Trucking Business Development Consultant (BDC) is a sales-focused role responsible for generating and closing new commercial insurance opportunities within the trucking industry. You will target mid-market trucking companies (approximately 50–400 power units), delivering tailored Property & Casualty solutions, with opportunities to introduce Employee Benefits as relationships grow. This role reports to the Strategic Growth Officer of the National Transportation Practice and includes mentorship, training, and ownership of your sales pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Drive New Business Development: Prospect mid-market trucking companies through phone outreach, email campaigns, LinkedIn networking, industry events, and in-person meetings.
- Identify client insurance needs related to fleet operations, risk management, and business exposures.
- Schedule, lead, and advance sales conversations; present insurance solutions in a professional, consultative manner.
- Manage opportunities from initial contact through close; maintain accurate activity, pipeline, and prospect data in Salesforce.
- Lead client meetings and sales communications: discovery meetings, presentations, and follow-up discussions; prepare professional proposals and client-facing materials.
- Build credibility and trust through consistent communication and follow-through; develop long-term relationships with prospective trucking clients.
- Organize and prioritize leads within Salesforce; monitor outreach effectiveness; forecast longer commercial insurance sales cycles.

- Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, risk management, or transportation-related services.
- Experience using prospecting and sales intelligence platforms such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of trucking operations, fleet management, or transportation businesses.
