Job title: Trial Attorney
About the Role Join Zurich North America Claims as a Trial Attorney in a hybrid role based in Boston, MA. You will represent commercial insureds in moderate to high complexity General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases, blending in-person collaboration with flexible remote work.
What You'll Do
- Represent commercial insureds in General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury matters, preparing for and trying moderate to high complexity cases.
- Conduct initial investigations, legal analysis, and advise on case strategy; prepare and file pleadings and documents; perform legal research.
- Prepare for and conduct pre-trial discovery, and aggressively handle hearings and trials; conduct post-trial activities as appropriate.
- Work effectively in a hybrid environment, using video conferencing, task assignments, and other computer-based systems to collaborate with remote teams.
- Demonstrate strong case analysis, negotiation skills, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
What We're Looking For
- Juris Doctor and 5+ years of experience in Insurance Litigation.
- Active, in-good-standing Massachusetts Bar.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe; experience with Lexis or Westlaw.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims processes, and insurance defense litigation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills; proactive, self-directed, and able to work independently or in a team.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to budget costs and calculate exposure for clients.
- Understanding of staff counsel roles and experience with remote/paperless work environments.
Nice to Have
- Active Member of the Rhode Island Bar Association.
- Experience handling Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Additional experience with insurance industry claims and general commercial litigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $115,200 - $188,700 per year.
- Short-term incentive bonus eligibility: 10%.
