Transportation Associate

About the Role Amazon is seeking Transportation Associates to support its transportation network by performing trailer moves in the yard, coordinating yard activities, conducting yard audits, and completing driver training. The role involves operating multiple vehicle types based on business needs and partnering with site operations, internal transport teams, and external carriers to ensure smooth, on-time trailer movements. What You'll Do

• Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and regulations and by enforcing safety measures for anyone operating vehicles on behalf of Amazon and those entering the yard, including vendors and senior team members.
• Perform yard functions and support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
• Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
• Learn Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and comply with company policies and procedures of those regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, incident reporting, break periods, etc.).
• Complete driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
• Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks per Amazon policy and federal/state regulations; adhere to yard safety policies and obey traffic laws; drive according to weather/road conditions.
• Support the business as a peer trainer or by working at nearby site locations within the area as needed.
• Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).
• When requested due to business need, obtain CDL and Driver Qualification File (DQF) and utilize it as a condition of the role, paid for by Amazon; if assigned to Over-the-Road (OTR) duties, the role becomes regulated by the DOT and FMCSA. What We're Looking For
• Basic qualifications: Hold a valid and active driver's license; High School or equivalent; 21 years or older; ability to understand and adhere to English-language job requirements and safety guidelines; ability to lift up to 49 pounds; stand and walk for shifts up to 12 hours; frequently push, pull, squat, bend, reach, and ascend/descend stairs; work 40 hours/week with overtime as required; flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/ or holidays.
• Preferred qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences; experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors; a valid Class A CDL; completion of CDL training program.
• Additional notes: English proficiency is required for CDL roles per federal regulation; ongoing training opportunities and potential to obtain CDL through Amazon with paid programs. Nice to Have
