About this role

Job title: Transactional KYC Analyst

About the Role

The Transactional KYC Analyst will perform transaction-level KYC due diligence on private equity deal structures to ensure every transaction Carta supports is clean, compliant, and defensible. You’ll partner with deal teams, lawyers, and compliance professionals on live transactions involving fund structures, SPVs, and multi-jurisdictional counterparties.

What You'll Do

  • Dig into transaction structures, identify counterparties, and conduct risk analysis focusing on AML, bribery, financial crime, and reputational exposure.
  • Unpack complex ownership and control structures (fund vehicles, SPVs, partnerships, trusts) to build a complete picture behind every transaction.
  • Drive the materials-gathering process by liaising with deal teams, legal, compliance, and counterparties to obtain documentation needed to complete KYC reviews on time and to a high standard.
  • Keep deals compliant by collaborating with clients' legal and compliance teams to meet AML/CTF regulations, internal policies, and jurisdiction-specific requirements; flag issues early so deals don’t stall at closing.

What We're Looking For

  • Early-career with 1-2+ years in a legal sector role, internship, or graduate position with working knowledge of legal administration, document review, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analytically minded and meticulous; able to reason through complex structures and document findings clearly.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator; able to convey expertise to counterparties and colleagues.
  • Deadline-oriented and adaptable; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving compliance environment.
  • Curious about private markets; familiarity with fund structures, offshore jurisdictions (Cayman, Luxembourg), or KYC screening tools (WorldCheck, Refinitiv, RDC) is advantageous.
  • ICA or ACAMS certification is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • ICA/ACAMS or relevant certifications; experience with KYC tools and screening platforms.
  • Prior exposure to private equity fund vehicles, SPVs, and cross-border transactions.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Our compensation range for this role is $53,635 - $67,065 in Hamilton, NJ and $59,945 - $74,955 in Seattle, WA, with an hourly rate of $25.79 - $32.24 and $28.82 - $36.04 respectively. Annualized salary is based on a 40-hour week before overtime.
  • Carta’s compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans.
  • We are an equal opportunity employer and provide accommodations on request. Carta uses E-Verify in the United States for employment authorization.
