About this role
About the Role The Train Cost Engineer will drive Design to Cost (DtC) activities across Tender and Project teams to meet cost objectives. They will set priorities, provide clear guidance to development teams and coordinate DtC resources to deliver the required expertise to the Tender & Projects organisation, ensuring alignment between design and cost targets. What You'll Do
- Animate the Design to Cost by applying DtC tools and methodologies
- Calculate and regularly update the Cost by Unit in Dev for the Train by IBS & Sub-Systems
- Define and agree the Recurring Cost per Unit targets of the Train by IBS & Sub-Systems with project stakeholders
- Coordinate Costing resources & expertise and ensure DtC deliverables are produced per the DFQ cycle
- Benchmark costs, highlight main cost drivers, and propose priorities to Tender/Project stakeholders
- Align with Tender/Project team needs on business cases and agree priorities
- Establish the DtC roadmap and deliverables, and govern them through DFQ cycles
- Organize regular DtC Steering Committees to report progress and obtain go/no-go decisions
- Transform DtC potentials into validated savings through creative sessions and action plans
- Produce synthesis reports, monitor DtC KPIs and the evolution of Cost by Unit at Train and Sub-System levels
- Ensure close communication with all DtC and Core Team stakeholders and diffuse DtC targets to project teams
- Scope: Recurring Production Cost (Material + Assembly hours) as the primary focus, with NRC considered when meaningful in business cases What We're Looking For
