About the Role As a Trailer Technician II, you will perform intermediate maintenance, service and repair on J.B. Hunt trailers and related equipment under routine supervision, ensuring our fleet meets company standards at all times. What You'll Do
- Perform intermediate maintenance, service and repair on J.B. Hunt trailers and other equipment.
- Troubleshoot trailer issues and perform repairs to company and manufacturer specifications; complete work orders; adhere to standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs related to trailer equipment: fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
- Assist with onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees.
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer training for OE repairs.
- Understand and follow shop safety procedures; maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
- Understand and follow company requirements for DOT inspections and FHWA inspections.
- Shifts may vary based on location and business needs. What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years old with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes (at least 1 year).
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent; Basic welding skills (MIG and stick); Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas; Ability to manage multiple priorities; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer.
