About the Role Trailer Technician II performs intermediate maintenance, service and repair on JB Hunt trailers and equipment under routine supervision, troubleshooting issues to ensure the fleet meets J.B. Hunt standards at all times. Applicants can be considered for I, II, or SR level based on verified experience and position availability. What You'll Do
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspections
- Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and adhere to standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Assist with onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer training for OE repairs
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers
- Work schedule: Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent; at least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes; able to supply own basic tools or purchase through toolbox program; willingness to work outdoors; ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent; basic welding skills (MIG and stick); ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas; ability to manage multiple priorities; ability to work independently and as part of a team; proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office); ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to wear PPE
