Job title: Trailer Technician II
About the Role As a Trailer Technician II, you will perform intermediate maintenance, service and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers and related equipment under routine supervision, troubleshooting issues and ensuring fleet maintenance meets JB Hunt standards at all times.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drive trains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems and FHWA inspections
- Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of trailer technician trainees
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer training for OE repairs
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers
- Be available for shifts that may vary by location and business needs
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age with 2 years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
- Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
- Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Nice to Have
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
- Basic welding skills (MIG and stick)
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to wear protective work attire (PPE)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and interpret ideas through various mediums
