About the Role

As a Trailer Technician I at JB Hunt, you are responsible for performing basic maintenance, service and repair to JB Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and other equipment. Under close supervision, you will conduct fleet maintenance to ensure that our equipment meets JB Hunt standards at all times. What You'll Do

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs on trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections.

  • Accurately perform basic repairs to company and manufacturer’s specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.

  • Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures.

  • Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers. What We're Looking For

  • Must be 18 years of age with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.

  • Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences.

  • Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.

  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed. Nice to Have

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.

  • At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.

  • Basic welding skills (MIG and stick).

  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively.

  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds).

  • Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE).
