About the Role Join AWP Safety as a Traffic Control Supervisor Apprentice in Grand Junction, CO. This apprenticeship program is designed to prepare you to lead a crew, supervise flaggers, and implement/adjust traffic control plans in diverse outdoor work environments across utility, broadband, and infrastructure projects.
What You'll Do
- Supervise Flaggers and ensure company, federal, state and local standards are met.
- Perform traffic control and flagging activities as needed.
- Follow safety rules at all work zones and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones and other warning devices.
- Implement and field adjust Traffic Control Plans.
- Maintain a safe work area on highways, municipal roads, rights-of-way, and rural roads.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Acceptable driving record with a valid driver’s license.
- Able to stand for long periods and physically lift/carry at least 75 pounds on a regular basis.
- Able to work outdoors in varied weather and in extreme conditions; problem solve and work under pressure.
- Available to work Monday–Friday with early mornings, plus overtime, nights and weekends as required.
- Pre-employment drug screen required.
- Excellent communication skills; able to document work clearly in various software; possess 2 forms of valid ID.
- Hands-on, self-sufficient with a positive, can‑do attitude; outdoor/ construction experience preferred.
Nice to Have
- Outdoor working or construction experience preferred.
- ATSSA and Smith Driving Training (paid) offered during the program.
- Prior supervisory or crew-leading experience or aspirations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour

- A rigorous 6-week company paid training while on the job and ongoing training for 2 years
