Some imagine the future. At SEGULA, we build it

Mission

SEGULA Technologies is a leading global consultancy and engineering firm. We support our clients throughout every stage of their products’ lifecycle in sectors such as the automotive, aerospace, energy and rail industries, amongst others.

With a presence in over 30 countries and a team of more than 10,000 experts, we are driven by innovation, digital technology and a strong commitment to inclusion and diversity.

We are looking to incorporate a TRACTION AND HIGH VOLTAGE SYSTEM ENGINEER into our center of excellence for railway projects in Zaragoza.

The selected candidate will join the TRAIN SYSTEM department, working on high-tech national and international projects for leading rolling stock manufacturers.

Functions:

  • Define requirements, manage interfaces, and design vehicle-level concepts and propulsion system architectures for the propulsion and power transmission chain: from high-voltage energy captation systems (pantograph, circuit breaker, roof disconnectors, earthing switches, main transformer, monitoring components, etc.) to internal power conversion and distribution, ensuring traction performances, safety, energy efficiency, and reliability standards.

  • Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers to develop precise specifications for high-voltage captation components and custom propulsion solutions. Define Technical Purchase Specifications, prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), manage requirements using DOORS, prepare clause-by-clause evaluations, and verify schematic diagrams.

  • System Definition & Performance Analysis: Create system and functional specifications, conduct precise component sizing, execute traction performance and energy consumption calculations, manage the high-voltage power supply chain, and run detailed performance and line-interaction simulations.

  • Vehicle Dynamics & Performance Evaluation: Apply knowledge of acceleration, maximum speed, and vehicle performance parameters to model, evaluate, and optimize overall traction capabilities across varying operating profiles.

  • Converter & Inverter Integration: Define technical specifications and requirements for traction power converters and inverters, ensuring seamless functional, mechanical, thermal, and electrical integration into the overall vehicle architecture.

  • System Integration: Coordinate with other engineering departments (software, schematics, and mechanical teams) to integrate electrical subsystems into the vehicle.

  • Testing & Technical Analysis: Participate in design reviews, technical analyses, prototyping, and on-site testing to ensure functional consistency and compatibility across systems. Define and support test specification creation.

We offer:

  • The opportunity to work for a company that is growing rapidly both nationally and internationally.

  • You will form part of a young, high-performing team with a high degree of specialisation.

  • Remuneration commensurate with your qualifications and experience.

  • The option to choose how you receive your salary, thanks to the tax benefits of our Flexible Remuneration scheme.

  • Intensive morning working hours.

  • Hybrid working option, at the employee’s choice.

  • Engineering qualification.

  • 2 years’ experience in the railway sector.

  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, electrical diagrams and cable harnesses, material properties and welded structures.

  • Intermediate to advanced level of English (B2/C1), French is a plus

  • Availability to travel internationally on an ad hoc basis.

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.

  • Strong background in high-voltage captation systems (including pantograph, circuit breaker, main transformer, etc.) and traction components within the rolling stock / railway domain, and/or working with high-voltage schematics and wiring.

  • Experience with EMI/EMC protection, traction modes, and component sizing.
