TQRP Fellow

About the Role The Teacher Quality and Retention Program (TQRP) is a national fellowship hosted by Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Fellows commit to a multi-year program beginning with a Summer Institute each year, followed by year‑round professional development, 1:1 coaching, mentorship and leadership training to prepare emerging teachers for high-need communities. What You'll Do

• Participate in an intense annual Summer Institute and engage in year‑round online support sessions, webinars and professional development.
• Carry out pre-service and classroom activities: develop and teach lessons, receive coaching and feedback, and create content while coaching peers.
• Participate in professionalism sessions to prepare portfolios, resumes and interview skills.
• Join a diverse network of teachers and participate in mentorship and leadership training to become future teacher leaders.
• Benefit from 1:1 coaching and targeted support throughout the multi-year fellowship. What We're Looking For
• Education or STEM major; minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident; current HBCU student or alumni.
• All education majors welcome; STEM majors in their junior or senior year strongly encouraged.
• Willingness to participate in an intensive Summer Institute each year; engage in online support sessions throughout the year.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check.
• Black Male Educators in their 1st-5th year of teaching are encouraged to apply for a one-year fellowship under the Black Male Expansion initiative (even if they didn’t attend an HBCU). Nice to Have
• Black Male Educators in their 1st-5th year of teaching are encouraged to apply for a one-year fellowship with TQRP even if they didn’t attend an HBCU. Compensation & Benefits
• Fellows receive a modest stipend and have meals, hotel and travel expenses covered by TMCF for program events.
• Additional ongoing professional development for select new teacher fellows.
