Job title: Tour Guide – Visitor Centre (Part-time Seasonal)
About the Role Join BC Hydro as a part-time seasonal Tour Guide at our Visitor Centres. You’ll educate visitors about hydroelectricity, electrical safety, energy conservation, and the BC Hydro story, while serving as a brand ambassador for the company at sites near Mission, Revelstoke, and Hudson's Hope.
What You'll Do
- Greet visitors, generate interest in our facilities and programs, respond to inquiries, and lead guided tours tailored to each group.
- Participate in promotional activities and projects, and conduct tourism research and surveys for BC Hydro.
- Share knowledge about how hydroelectricity is generated, distributed, transmitted and used safely; discuss the history and construction of our generating stations and dams; and explain energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Represent BC Hydro in a friendly, professional manner while learning about local initiatives and programs.
What We're Looking For
- Experience and strong skills in customer service, public speaking, presentations and/or leading groups
- Ability to engage with people of all ages, from preschoolers to seniors, and convey clear information
- Basic knowledge of BC Hydro's current initiatives, services and programs, and some understanding of electricity generation
- Availability for part-time seasonal work; flexibility with hours across days and weeks as Visitor Centres can be open up to 7 days a week
